Acting Coach


Steve Lauder-Russell is a theatre-maker, facilitator and actor as well as the Artistic Director of Glasgow Acting Academy.

Working with a range of organisations, Steve has directed musical theatre and plays, with notable credits including Shakespeare's ‘Romeo & Juliet’, ‘Carrie the Musical’, ‘Beats’ by Kieran Hurley and ‘Chaos’ by Laura Lomas which reached the final stages of NT New Connections and was performed at the Dorfman Theatre, London.

Steve has also led projects such as ‘The Pack’ in association with Wonder Fools Theatre Company and ‘Glasgow’, a spoken-word piece included in A Play, A Pie and A Pint’s PINTSIZEPLAYS project. As movement director, Steve has worked with Glasgow Live Productions on their 2022 production of ‘Big Fish’ and New College Lanarkshire BA Actors on their 2023 production of 'Macbeth'.

As an actor, Steve looks forward to returning as the Dame in Hamilton Townhouse's Pantomime for his ninth consecutive year.  He has also appeared in Cora Bissett's ‘Grit: the Martyn Bennett Story’ and toured internationally with acclaimed children’s musical, ‘Hairy Maclary and Friends’, playing lead vocalist, Sam Stone. An engaged LGBTQ+ activist, Steve has recently worked with the Terrence Higgins Trust, featuring in their social media campaign around gay men’s sexual health.

Steve is excited to work with the students of Hamilton Theatre Arts as Acting lecturer.
