The Dance Audition

You don’t need to prepare anything for the audition. You will be invited to attend an Audition Day at Hamilton Theatre Arts and the day will include:-

• A Ballet Class

• A Jazz Class

• A short interview with Head Tutors

For video auditions, we request two videos of dances in your strongest/contrasting styles and a short statement to camera about why you would like to study with us.

The Musical Theatre Audition

You will be invited to attend an Audition Day at Hamilton Theatre Arts. You need to prepare the following for your audition:-

• Two contrasting musical theatre songs. (You should bring sheet music, in the correct key, with any cuts clearly marked for the accompanist. We don’t allow the use of backing tracks at an in-person audition.)

• A monologue (The monologue should last approx one minute)

The Audition Day will follow the following format:-

• Welcome from the Principal and the Course Leader

• Participation in a Jazz Dance Class & a Ballet Class

• Performance of your prepared songs and monologue

• A short interview with Head Tutors

For video auditions, we request two song videos to backing track in contrasting styles, a short dance/movement piece in your strongest style and a short statement to camera about why you would like to study with us.
